Hello, fellow Nerdfighters! My name is Jessie and I’m here to ask for your help. I’m a freshman in college this year and I’ve decided to make one of my two subculture research projects about online communities with a focus on Nerdfighteria.
One of the requirements for this project is to interview fellow insiders to the subculture… so that would be you, my fellow Nerdfighter! :D
The only way I can properly complete this project is if I get the help of the community. Below I’ve listed the “interview” questions I’m using for my project. If you have a moment to spare, it would mean a lot if you could answer them. The answers can be as long or short as you want. You can reblog this post with your answers or send them to me through fanmail/ask. I really appreciate your help and DFBTA!
QUESTIONS:
1.) How did you discover Nerdfighteria?
2.) What was it about the community that made you want to become a member?
3.) How has being involved with Nerdfighteria changed your life?
4.) What offline and other online communities are you involved with?
5.) Are you friends with other members of Nerdfighteria? How do you communicate with other members? (IRL, You Tube, Your Pants, Tumblr…)
6.) In your opinion, can an online community be just as powerful and feel just as close as an offline community?
Thank you so much for your time and help!
Help the lady out, folks!

This artwork I made for my final piece of assessment last year. It was an installation inspired by John Green’s novel Paper Towns and on a smaller part Looking for Alaska. The black disk that the labyrinth sits on has a diameter of 170cm and a circumference of 534cm to give you a sense of how big and time consuming it was.The base was created from an old used canvas with the labyrinth lines drawn on and then cut out. All the 2D ‘buildings’ were all hand made by me, I cut up cardboard and then took pages from an novel (that I had no use for anymore) and glued them to both sides of the cardboard. Once the building was done I would glue it to the base. Once it was all set up I created a sound-scape from me saying lines from Paper Towns. It took me about 5-6 weeks (class, home, after and before school) to complete but I was very happy with the results. Fun fact, the book that I used for the buildings had a character called Ester in it, so I tried to put the pages with her name on it on the buildings as many times as possible. DFTBA
